I had a Scottish friend over for dinner tonight. She also reads this blog and she wanted to make a correction. Remember when I talked about the word haver? Well, I was only partially correct. It actually means to "talk in a foolish and trivial way." It is also spelled haiver with a variant of haver. Once she told me that I could have been wrong, we pulled out the concise scots dictionary and there it was. I had made most of my definition from how I had heard the word spoken so I must have misinterpreted what was being said.
