I went to wait in line last night for the newest Harry Potter book on Princes Street. We got there about 8:30 pm and stayed until after getting the book. I was in the store itself for the first book to be sold. It was an interesting experience. Especially when the homeless man started screaming about us waiting all over the street when he was constantly harassed by the police for sleeping on the street. Guess what happened? The police were right there to talk to him. Otherwise, there was a colorful display of people in various costumes and accoutrement.

Honestly, I do not quite understand such excitement that we stand in line for hours to be entertained. In a way, the line is just as entertaining as the entertainment we are going to see. Some people dressed up in costumes and others were just there to gawk. In the end, we were among the first group let into the building and the countdown, which was a bit of a let down because sales did not start right away. There seemed to be some confusion on the part of the staff but that was just my perception. Anyway, fun was had by all and I can say that I was there across the street from where she finished writing it.
